Walk with Pet Pigs & a Pignic in the Brecon Beacons

What to expect?

The original and best pig walking experience with pet pigs in the beautiful Brecon Beacons. It’s a mini adventure taking these sweet little KuneKune pigs for a piggy walk along a beautiful valley in the Brecon Beacons, followed by a tasty “Pignic” of tea/coffee/squash and cakes.

If conditions allow, you can paddle with the pigs in the quiet river, which is even more fun than swimming with pigs in the Bahamas!

Great for people wanting an enjoyable and engaging few hours in the countryside with these friendly little pet pigs. Take the opportunity to learn all about their welfare and their life in this scenic area.

The best present you could ever give to a pig-loving adult!

More about our Pignic Walk with pet Kunekune Pigs

The pigs are loose and free to come to and from you as you walk.

The majority of our visitors are pig-loving  adults wanting to spend quiet quality time with these lovely girls.

The piggy walks are suitable for quiet animal-loving children over 10 years, accompanied by paying adults, but we advise that children are booked in as a private group session.

Individual spaces are £45 per person for a tiny group join-in session with up to 8 people, and from £180 for a private session (this includes 4 spaces but you can add in additional spaces at £45 per person) – private sessions are only available if there are no prior bookings on that date.

We also do a Piggy Walk in the Valley without refreshments from £40.

Undated Piggy Walking gift vouchers are available as a present for a pig lover, or view the booking calendar to book a specific date now.

The Kunekune pigs are pets living on a smallholding – they will see out their natural lives under the gentle care of their owners.  Their welfare is the most important consideration so we so occasionally have to cancel this experience should the weather be too adverse, and will contact you in advance. However, we do refund or make every effort  to rearrange to suit in this unlikely event.

Common Questions

The best pig experience walking and paddling with little KuneKune pigs in the Brecon Beacons / Bannau Brycheiniog National Park, Wales. Tea & cakes pignic after.

This pig with a pignic experience includes being introduced to the pet piggies, then you’ll have a scenic walk along valley meadows including taking a paddle with the pigs in the river Senni when possible. Wellies advised to join them.

The route is adjusted slightly according to weather & ground conditions. It’s fairly level ground that can be muddy at times, with some uneven areas.

After returning to the smallholding, you will have ample refreshments of tea/coffee/squash with cakes and fruit. Vegans & people with food allergies can be catered for – just advise on booking.

If you prefer to just be piggy walking without the picnic, have a look at our Piggy Walk in the Valley experience which just the piggy interaction without refreshments.

Kindly note that the actual walk is normally about an hour through level easy walking, but the pigs sometimes want to go home earlier or later!

Please go to the booking calendar to see availability & book online. You can book individual places on our tiny group join-in sessions or we can take bespoke small private group bookings to have the pigs & their trainers all to yourself.

Walks are late March / April to October as long as the weather isn’t too wet and windy.

Should weather conditions be really averse, we’ll be in touch to reschedule or refund. Slightly rainy weather is fine but with extreme cold or very wet windy weather, the pigs will retire to their sty. When it is hot, we have found they are happiest going for a walk & cool down paddle in the river with you. Their welfare is paramount but they do live in Wales and normal rain is fine!

Private walks are more suitable for those with limited mobility – please advise us at time of booking.

Long sleeves & trousers are recommended plus strong insect repellent in summer as there are horse flies that bite!

Wellies are advised, (even in summer as the pigs will be muddy even if the ground isn’t). If conditions allow, the walk will take you to the river where you will be able to paddle with the piggies but we obviously cannot predict when this will be possible.

Our pig walks and pig experiences are for adults.

We recommend this is suitable for children over 10 years as long as they are not boisterous. We do not offer discounts for children as this would mean that our adult prices will need to be increased. Most of our visitors are adults but quiet animal-loving children are welcome.

It is preferable that children are booked on private walks and must be accompanied by not less than a ratio of 2 children to 1 adult. Babies who are not walking are free of charge but must be carried safely (push chairs not allowed) – we do recommend private walks for families so children and the pigs can get used to each other and communicate in a kind and safe, interactive way.

The piggies are pets but not like petting farm animals. They are very sensitive and can react to sudden noise or movements – they enjoy their walks in company and meeting our walkers and we hope to keep it this way.

No! Sorry, but dogs are not allowed on our walks as they can stress the animals. When it is hot, we do not have any shady places to park, so please do not assume you can leave your dog in the car while you visit. Please contact us if you would like a recommendation for a dog sitter.

The donkeys are at a different location about 30 minutes’ drive away, so please bear this in mind if you wanted to book both activities on the same day. The sheepdog sessions are about a 45 minute drive from where the pigs live.

No! We are in a rural area with a tiny population that doesn’t have any bus services nearby. The nearest town accessible by train then bus is Brecon, so we would suggest staying there and travelling by taxi or e-bike but it is about a 10 mile journey. Do please lobby Welsh Government if you think that is unreasonable.

Please email us or call 01874 749092 with your preferred dates and voucher codes.

As with all Good Day Out experiences, a good cause benefits from you buying a voucher. In the case of the Piggy Walking, a portion of each voucher will go towards RetireMutt.

RetireMutt is a charity that helps provide financial support for retired Dyfed-Powys Police Dogs.

Up to 7 days before any booked date, we are happy to refund less a 10% admin fee or to rearrange for another date without penalty.

Under 7 days before a booked date, we cannot refund unless we manage to re-fill the spaces. We have such tiny capacity this helps to keep our prices more stable. Please see our T&C for more info.
