Enjoy a unique day out with Maverick & Goose, our charming mini donkeys, on a quiet scenic walk in the stunning Brecon Beacons. This gentle adventure includes grooming, a light picnic, and plenty of opportunities to bond with these affectionate animals.
Perfect for donkey lovers, this experience is a relaxing way to explore the countryside while creating lasting memories with your mini donkey companions.
Walk Maverick & Goose, sweet Miniature Mediterranean donkeys across scenic pathways and farmland in the Brecon Beacons National Park, Wales. The walks are tailored to the weather conditions and the walkers! Most attendees are adults of all ages.
Your experience will start by grooming your chosen mini donkey and getting to know them a little better. Then, we’ll load up their mini panniers with some snacks for your picnic before setting off for a gentle walk with your furry friends.
The walk is across farmland and and ancient paths with easy access, and will include a break half-way for a light picnic before returning through fields, tracks or lanes to the barn. The paths may be muddy and slightly uneven with some sections with inclines, but the walk is usually slow and careful with lots of foraging stops for the donkeys along the way.
We recommend the Mini Donkey Agility Games or Hugs Session for those with less mobility or younger children.
Join-in sessions with a tiny group are £40 per person. Private walks are from £160 which includes 4 attendees with additional spaces at £20 per person.

Our mini donkeys live on a smallholding near Sennybridge, so pre-booking is required and full directions are sent when you book. All donkey lovers will be charmed our dinky donkeys. You will not only learn all about donkeys and their health & welfare, but will also get to know their wonderfully different characters. Cuddles and selfies with the little donkeys are almost compulsory, and usually demanded by them once they get to know you.
The Dinks can be very strong so we normally walk with two people per donkey on join-in sessions, but you can book them just for yourselves on a private session.
A snack picnic is provided, usually including Welsh Cakes, Crisps, Granola Bar, fruit and a drink but we can usually accommodate most special dietary requirements with notice.
This experience is available year round on any day of the week, usually 10am, 1pm in winter or 2pm in summer. If you don’t see your preferred date available on our booking calendar or would like to check or request a start time, please use the enquiry box or contact us to request a specific date and we’ll try and set up a walk for you!
Our undated Gift Vouchers make great special presents.
This is an adult activity and the donkeys are sensitive and reactive. We recommend any attending children are at least 10 years old and are booked in with a private session with at least one adult attending with each child.
Please note that the donkeys are quite young so do sometimes display boisterous behaviour. They can be extremely strong. If this is the case, their handler will advise the best way to proceed safely, but we advise that children cannot lead a donkey on their own and must be supervised at all times.
All interactions between the donkeys and children will be at the discretion of the trainer for safety reasons and we strongly recommend that any children are booked in on a private session as the majority of our visitors are adults.
Long sleeves & trousers are recommended plus strong insect repellent in summer as there are horse flies that bite!
Wellies or sturdy walking boots advised, (even in summer as the ground can still be muddy).
No! Sorry, but dogs are not allowed on our walks as they can stress the animals. When it is hot, we do not have any shady places to park, so please do not assume you can leave your dog in the car while you visit. Please contact us if you would like a recommendation for a dog sitter.
As with all Good Day Out experiences, a good cause benefits from every participation. In the case of the Dinky Donkey Walking, a portion of each voucher goes towards Brecon Mountain Rescue.
They are manned by volunteers and are funded by donations, providing a vital skilled rescue service in the Brecon Beacons area.
All our experiences are held in small or tiny group sizes so we don’t allow any bystanders who have not booked in. For the Dinky Donkey Walk, we have a maximum of 4 spaces on a join-in session, so if you have booked a single space, that is what is what it is. Bystanders are chargeable as they are still participating.
The Pigs are at a different location about 30 minutes’ drive away, so please bear this in mind if you wanted to book both activities on the same day. We also require that you see the Donkeys before the pigs as the smell of the pigs can scare the Dinks 🙁
The sheep dog sessions are about a 45 minute drive away.
We have been walking little animals for over 12 years and offer amongst the best animal experiences you can find in the UK. Our mini donkeys are pets and are extremely happy and well cared for. There are alternative places to walk donkeys but we are worth the trip.
No! We are in a rural area with a tiny population that doesn’t have any bus services near enough to walk from. The nearest town accessible by train then bus is Brecon, so we would suggest staying there and travelling by taxi. You could also stay in Sennybridge which is over 3 miles away, but there are no taxi services & you will still pay for a taxi to come from Brecon. Do please lobby Welsh Government if you think that is unreasonable.
