Had an amazing time learning how to lay a traditional hedge with Julia and the team. Good fun, good exercise and professional expertise and tuition from Thom and Rob.... read more A chance to see and walk with the dinky donkeys was an added bonus!!
My partner and I went on the lovely dinky donkey walk with Julia. The donkeys were so sweet and we had a beautiful autumnal stroll through the countryside with them.... read more I would highly recommend this to animal lovers and anyone who enjoys an unusual day out. The walk was leisurely and not at all difficult, but I would highly suggest wearing waterproofs and wellies. I will be back in the near future as I have fallen in love with Maverick and Goose.
I booked the experience for my girlfriend who loves donkeys and she was not disappointed. This experience was booked pre-covid and after 2 years of trying to get there Julia... read more honoured the booking no problem. Once we finally got there, we were sat at the wrong farm for 40 mins as we didn't read the instructions properly, we were greeted by Julia who took us out on the walk. We met the donkeys and after receiving actual hugs from them we set off for our picnic. Each couple looks after one of the donkeys by standing either side and leading them up the path. All the time Julia was chatting and telling us about these lovely animals and how to control them even though they are so placid. We sat down in a lovely spot for something to eat, a few photos and then we followed the same path back to the farm (don't forget to save the apple cores for Maverick and Goose). Julia is a fantastic host who made the experience very friendly and informative. Overall I would thoroughly recommend this experience to all and we will definitely go back.
What an amazing walk with two beautiful dinky donkeys, Maverick and Goose. We groomed and got to know them before getting them ready to carry our blankets for our... read more picnic arranged by our host, Julia.
Julia was fantastic, so welcoming and accommodating! As my partner and I booked last minute, I wasn’t very well equipped but Julia went above and beyond to make it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Would highly recommend this activity for anyone thinking about it!
Dinky Donkey Walk and Games.
What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon! Julia is such a lovely genuine person, who cares passionately about Maverick, Goose and the... read more 3 beautiful horses, which certainly shows.Learnt so much from Julia about the donkeys.
First we groomed the donkeys and had cuddles with Maverick, who placed his head on my partners shoulder and with eyes tight shut, throughly enjoyed his ears being rubbed. My partner enjoyed it as much as Maverick.
Had a lovely walk, stunning scenery which Goose and Maverick ignored as more interested in what was available to eat!
Came back for some agility games, which were brilliant. Goose and Maverick are so intelligent and quick to learn, loved it when Goose picked up the 4 small hoops and gave them to me!
Helped with their tea and brought them in from the field and into the barn ready for a well deserved nights rest.
Can't think of a better way to spend time, just sad that we don't live closer as would love to volunteer our help.
Thank you so very much Julia, we loved every minute.
What a wonderful way to spend a few hours! We visited and walked the miniature donkeys and despite getting lost and being late, Julia was wonderfully welcoming when we arrived.... read more The donkeys were an absolute delight and very friendly and after learning about them and getting to give them a good brush, Goose and Maverick were kitted up with our lunches and off we went. We walked for maybe 30 minutes and then sat on a blanket and ate our snacks whilst looking out at the beautiful views before heading back. Julia did a great job at taking lots of photographs of us and sending them on the next day and we really had a wonderful day. We left feeling so happy and would recommend this to anyone who has a love of animals! A truly unique and magical experience!
I booked a two hour 'Walk A Miniature Donkey' trip with Julia, and her two 'Dinkys', Maverick & Goose - it was £70 in total for my partner & I,... read more and absolutely worth every penny.
We started off with a friendly chat with Julia, who clearly thinks the world of her donkeys, and then moved on to a grooming session, with a chance to get a hug from Maverick. Yes, an actual real cuddle from a donkey... just bend down, rub his ears, and he'll respond by looping his chin over your shoulder, tilting his head, and pulling you in for a special 'donkey cwtch'. I think it was at this point my other half fell in love. It's now five days later, and I'm still trying to explain why we can't keep a miniature donkey in our garden in Hampshire...
This was followed by a good walk through the countryside - we led Maverick's little brother Goose, who was clever enough to shove us into the boggy parts whilst he took the firm path... hilarious. As stated, it was a little muddy - as you would expect in March - but nothing a good pair of walking boots couldn't handle.
We sat down to eat the lunch kindly provided (Welsh cakes, crisps, fruit, cereal bar and a soft drink), whilst the donkeys took the opportunity to scoff as much grass/brambles as they could. The return route took a diversion via a stream, where Maverick had an argument with a fallen tree. The afternoon ended with 15 mins or so watching the Dinks run around their field having a good play before giving them a treat with some apple cores.
This is a totally different experience to just seeing them at a petting zoo - you really get to interact with the animals, and appreciate their individual characters; equal parts adorable, intelligent, sneaky, playful & stubborn with just a little hint of feisty for good measure.
I really can't recommend highly enough; Julia was a amiable, informative and welcoming host, and this was one of the highlights of our trip to the Brecons.
Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
