We are delighted that foraging guru Adele Nozedar will be running a foraging experience with us this summer. To make this extra special, the foraging walks will be accompanied by our little donkeys to carry your foraged foods.
The donkeys love to nibble, forage and browse as they walk, and this will be a gentle amble with Adele identifying edible plants and their culinary & medicinal uses along the way. The walk will take you along lanes, tracks and countryside including some grassland and woodland, with a variety of free food to be found. Nature’s wild larder is always fascinating and you will enjoy comparing what you can eat with what our little donkeys find tasty.
The terrain can be uneven but the walk is slow and not difficult. Should you have any mobility issues, do get in touch as we can arrange a private walk along more level ground if requested.
You can book single places or as a group. For 6 places it will automatically be a private walk just for you. The walks are generally held starting either 10am or 2pm and the total experience lasts around 2 hours. We can also arrange sunset walks so please ask about availability.
To book a date we have arranged, please go to the calendar on this page and book your places. If you would like to buy an undated gift voucher for this lovely experience day that is great for cooks, foodies and garden lovers, please go to our Gifts section and you will receive a voucher with 15 months to redeem, plus gift card & info sheet.
As with all Good Day Out experiences, please be assured that we take your safety seriously and all walks are conducted with appropriate Covid measures in place as well as professional trainers. Should any dates need to be cancelled due to extreme weather or covid issues, we are always happy to re-book another date or refund in full if that isn’t possible.
Adele Nozedar is the local author of several essential foraging guides which are highly readable and with beautiful illustrations by Lizzie Harper. These include The Hedgerow Handbook, Foraging with Kids & The Garden Forager. We are excitedly awaiting publication of her new book The Tree Forager (due August 2021).
Adele previously held some foraging experiences with Good Day Out in Talybont by the canal which were very much enjoyed by our guests. She is very knowledgeable but friendly and keen for everyone to enjoy the experience.
As with all Good Day Out experiences, this will be held within a small group. Although the majority of our punters are adults, children are welcome on this “join-in” foraging experience day as long as they are old enough to be interested or young enough to be carried! We are very happy to arrange private walks just for your family group so this would be more suitable for younger children as we can then walk and forage at your own pace.
Pricing is £45 for adults and £35 for 16’s & under.
We are holding some special weekends where you can also book an exclusive basket weaving class the day before the forage walk. During the class, you will make your own wicker foraging basket or panniers for the little donkeys to use on this walk. To enquire about these mini-breaks with local accommodation and full itinerary, please get in touch.
