Ever wanted to see a lamb being born? This hands-on lambing experience day is a real-life day spent with a farmer and his family on a 200 acre organic Welsh hill farm during lambing time.
We cannot guarantee you will see a lamb being born but the odds are very favourable with over 400 ewes due to lamb in April, and it is also extremely likely that you will be able to feed an orphaned pet lamb.
The day includes checking sheep in the field, bedding down, marking, moving sheep and also collecting eggs to take home from the farm’s organic hens. You’ll be able to talk with your friendly hosts about the area, organic farming and the alternative energy initiatives on the farm. A tasty homemade farmhouse lunch is included and then you will be free to walk around the farm to enjoy the stunning views towards the Central Beacons.
Over the last 4 years of running our Good Day Out Lambing experience days, only one group failed to see a live birth, but still thoroughly enjoyed the day. We do have to mention though that as this is real life and there will probably be a few moments that are best avoided by the squeamish. ***Pregnant women are not allowed due to possible health risks. You will be walking along easy paths which can be uneven and muddy, but here are no steep inclines.
This experience is conducted within very small groups, usually a maximum of x 6 and is not too suitable for very young children. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult. Please note we have some very friendly dogs but your own dogs are sadly not welcome for this experience due to possible stress levels for the sheep.
