Have you always dreamt of spending time with a sweet little donkey and having some lovely photos to cherish? This mini adventure takes it a step further as you will meet spend time with our pair of mini donkeys and have your photo taken with them in their Christmas jumpers. Your own is optional!
This special little donkey experience is in the Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons area in Wales. You will spend time in a private session with Maverick & Goose, a pair of adorable Miniature Mediterranean Donkeys and their owner, who live on a smallholding near Sennybridge.
This is a similar donkey experience to our Mini Donkey Hugs sessions, but the added bonus is you will receive at least five digital photos after the session to keep and remember the donkeys by.
Cuddles and interaction with the dinky donkeys is also hugely encouraged, especially by them!
This is a lovely festive animal encounter for donkey lovers and is most suitable to adults, but quiet older and families can book. However, The Dinks aren’t petting farm animals and are expressive and responsive.
As it is your own session, we take every step at your pace. Most sessions are held in The Dinks’ scenic field with them loose (or haltered if you prefer) but we can also hold this session in their stone barn.
You’ll be with a friendly, experienced trainer at all times who will share knowledge about the donkeys and their life on their smallholding as well as showing how to communicate with the donkeys to interact safely. Sturdy garden chairs can be provided if needed – just let us know in advance.
These sessions are always private & just for you. Please enquire about dates and times but we can usually arrange these most days along as The Dinks and their handler are available. This special session is £90 for around 30 minutes. The exact duration depends on you and The Dinks.
This is a smallholding and the mini donkeys are pets – they will see out their natural lives under the gentle care of their owner. Should weather conditions be averse, we’ll be in touch to reschedule or refund. Slightly rainy weather is fine but with wet or very windy weather, the donkeys prefer to stay in their barn.

We include up to 4 people in these private sessions so you can interact as a family or group of friends, or you can come alone. Wheelchair users are welcome but we do require at least one accompanying person because the donkeys are very fond of nibbling, and tyres are particularly vulnerable! Although precautions can be taken, we are sorry but we cannot be held responsible for any damage to wheelchairs, clothing or shoelaces.
These sessions can be booked through November and December. If the weather is looking too poor, barn sessions can be held but you can also rebook. With poor weather, refunds are fine if you cannot rebook. Please see our T&C for full details.
You can buy undated mini donkey encounter gift vouchers as a present for a donkey lover. Look forward to a special day out & UK staycation with friends and family in 2026. Pop to our Gifts page for undated vouchers or stay on this page and view the calendar to book a specific date.
Sturdy shoes, wellies or boots advised, (even in summer). Open toes shoes or sandals are not recommended.
Do bring your Christmas Jumper but nothing of great value or with any tinsel or scary flappy parts. The Dinks can get scared, and they also can chew clothing.
No! Sorry, but dogs are not allowed as they can stress the animals. Please contact us if you would like a recommendation for a dog sitter.
The Pigs are at a different location about 30 minutes’ drive away, The Pigs are enjoying a well-earned rest through the winter so can be booked from April next year.
The sheep dog sessions are about a 45 minute drive away and have stopped now until May 2026.
No! We are in a rural area with a tiny population that doesn’t have any bus services near enough to walk from. The nearest town accessible by train then bus is Brecon, so we would suggest staying there and travelling by taxi. You could also stay in Sennybridge which is over 3 miles away, but there are no taxi services & you will still pay for a taxi to come from Brecon. Do please lobby Welsh Government if you think that is unreasonable.
Please email us or call 01874 749092 with your preferred dates and times.
