Ever wanted to shear a sheep? Have a go at sheep shearing with hands on tuition on this great farm experience. The session lasts an hour with a maximum of just two people and a friendly knowledgeable trainer who will show you how to shear a sheep and help while you have a go.
Ideal for couples (especially as a 7th wedding anniversary wool present!) and also individuals but groups of more than two can also enquire about booking their own session. The training, at a 200 acre organic hill farm in the Brecon Beacons, is held in a very informal but safe way. The sheep’s comfort is taken into consideration at all times.
Shearing is vital for welfare of sheep, and is done locally in June and early July so that the sheep remain warm in the variable spring weather, are cooler for the summer months and their fleece has a chance to grow again for the winter. We currently have a couple of dates in June for this experience with different time slots throughout the day (please see the calendar for availability), but if you have a group please do enquire about other dates.
Our Shear a Sheep Experience is £45 and is for 16s & over only. We also have another similar hands on shearing experience which is Fleece to Felt. This is a half day shearing and half day felting including lunch and is £90 adults & £45 children. Both are available as undated gift vouchers but do contact us if you have any queries at all.
