Want to move sheep like in One Man and His Dog? Meet some working sheepdogs, and spend time with a Welsh Hill farmer and his wife on their traditional farm in the Black Mountains near Crickhowell in the Brecon Beacons.
Seeing a dedicated sheep dog moving a flock of sheep around the fields is an amazing sight. You’ll accompany Brian on his routine farm work – walking to and checking the sheep, and moving them around the fields with the help of one of the farm’s three working Welsh border collies. You will learn the traditional sheep dog working commands and have a go at using them to work the dogs yourself. The event ends with drinks and biscuits in the farm kitchen and a chance to chat to about farming in the stunning environment of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Times: 10.30am -12 noon – venue near Crickhowell. Children of age 17 and under must be accompanied by a paying adult. Sorry no visitors’ dogs as we are a sheep farm and the surrounding common land is freely grazed by sheep. As this is a very small group experience on a working farm, bystanders or spectators are not permitted.
Please book or enquire here for specific dates which are June – August 2019, but if you wish to buy an undated voucher, please visit our Gifts section where you can either buy specific or general Gift Vouchers as great special presents.
