About your Good Day Out
Walk some rescue Shetlands......and a goat too!

A charming stroll in the company of five quiet little Shetland ponies, and their friend Carol the nanny goat who loves an outing. It is a wonderful experience walking the ponies around a 55 acre farm which backs on to the Black Mountain, with amazing views towards the Brecon Beacons and Pen y Fan and the sea in the other direction. After meeting and grooming the ponies and tiny Shetland foal, Pearl, you’ll walk for around 60-80 minutes before heading back to the farmyard.  The experience lasts around 2 hours and is a great stress-buster in a tucked-away scenic location set above the post-industrial town of Ystradgynlais and the Swansea Valley.

The Shetland ponies were rescued by owner Veronica Williams, and are remarkably quiet, enjoying cuddles and interaction with people. The therapeutic qualities of horses are well known, and with such a small breed, Shetlands can be less intimidating than larger horses. Spend time getting to know them as you walk.

Meet the gang

Donald the cheeky Palomino was rescued as a stallion but after fathering the lovely little filly Pearl is no longer a full male. Daisy is skewbald and was bred in Shetland. She is very sedate and a great mother to elder filly Ruby the chestnut, and foal Pearl who was born on the farm. The last two are slightly older and can be a little shy.

Last but certainly not least is Carol the nanny goat who has a sweet and gentle nature and loves to be included in the walks.

Need to know

This is an experience for group bookings only with a minimum of 4. Please enquire for dates and also rates for larger group sizes. We normally have six places so each person will lead their own pony or goat, but leading can be shared.

The farm track is not suitable for all vehicles so you will need to park and approach the farm on foot. Full details and directions will be sent with your voucher. The walk is fairly easy but on some uneven ground with some inclines, however the pace is leisurely. Children under 12 will share in leading. Adults £35, Children £25. Bystanders can accompany the walk for £15 per person – please advise on booking.

Please enquire for availability and also for undated Gift Vouchers.
