Help young people change and improve their lives by buying a child a day out in the countryside.
Good Day Out is proud to launch a new initiative where you can give an extra special present – Make a difference to a child from one of the UK’s most disaffected areas. This is the perfect stocking-filler that helps locally.
This gift voucher will pay for a disadvantaged child to have a farm experience, learning through the outdoors. Good Day out has been running farm days for the last two years in conjunction with the Stephens and George Charitable Trust. The Trust runs holiday camps, and brings around 20 children per session (with accompanying responsible adults) to the Brecon Beacons for fun farm days. These are significant days out for some children who never have the opportunity otherwise to be in the countryside or get close to animals. Health and developmental benefits are widely known, and these days out in the past have made a difference to young lives.
The activities on the experiences vary according to time of year and location but generally include animal handling, usually either a Sheep Trek, Pony Walk or Mini Donkey session, and organic gardening, egg collecting or rural skills. Emphasis is placed on hands-on interaction, low-key learning including how to interact quietly with animals, vegetable cultivation and being outdoors in the beautiful countryside.
The cost for each day per child is £30 on average, but transport costs and numbers in each group can vary. All monies raised from these vouchers will only go towards these specific days out with the Stephens & George Charitable Trust and more dates can be added in the happy event that excess funds are raised. Choose how much you would like to donate in multiples of £10 – every little helps make a difference to these children who had a challenging start to life.
E-Cards are free of charge, but please select the postal version for a printed and posted version which is £2.99
This voucher is specifically just for these groups of children with absolutely no bystanders allowed. If you want to take part in a farm experience yourself, then take a look at our other Gifts and Experiences, which all include donations to good causes so you can also make a difference.
