A one day beginners introduction to Hedge Laying with hands on experience & a qualified instructor in beautiful surroundings in the Brecon Beacons.
A great present for garden lovers and rural skill enthusiasts, this is a course for complete beginners to learn traditional hedge-laying and is useful for those seeking to add to woodland management or landscape gardening skills.
Learn about local methods and traditions of hedge-laying, traditional hand tools, natural history of hedgerows whilst receiving hands on experience of laying an actual hedge within the beautiful countryside of the Brecon Beacons.
Traditional hedge-laying provides dense cover at ground level for livestock and wildlife, consolidating the network of fruiting ‘green corridors’ linking other habitats. Normally, hedge laying can be conducted between late October and early March whilst the hedging plants are dormant. Please note that this activity is for small group bookings for a minimum of 4 people, but single participants can join in on most group days. Please enquire for dates for autumn & winter from November to March or just book using our booking calendar.
Need to know info – Sorry, this experience is not suitable for those under 16 years nor for anybody unable to move around easily on rough ground.

We will provide all tools and safety equipment needed (including gloves) but participants should bring their own hats and boots.
